제목: Sweet Coral Reef
산호초의 유동치며 흐느적거리는 느낌을 표현한 스카프.
면 스판덱스의 끝이 말아올라가는 성질을 이용하여 옷감 끝을 cutting 해 가면서 움직이는 효과를 줌.

Title : Sweet Coral Reef
- Purpose & Inspiration :
This is one of the "Sea World" works series. The purpose of the work was to create a scarf that symbolized the image of the coral reef that has the bright colors, cubic textures and wavering movement. The documentary film, "A Marine Kingdom", inspired me, which showed the coral's swinging in a flabby manner along the wave. This scarf can be matched with casual wear for the young generation of marked individuality.
- Concept & Design Process :
With an emphasis on design concept of delightful and lively imaging, the reddish color tone and textured textiles were importantly considered. First, the gradational effect of dyeing with reddish color tone was done on the 4 pieces of long square fabric. After drying, 4 pieces of fabric were connected with lengthwise and sewn together following by centerline, and then cut the edges with the way of fringe. After pulling lightly the cut parts to be curled inward, it fully showed the coral image that involves the fluid and lively characteristics.
- Techniques :
For the gradation effects, the craft dyeing technique was applied to the scarf colors, from the light red around center to the dark red toward edges. To fully reproduce the wavering image of coral, I used the technique of the edges curled by adopting the stretching fabric, which is a core of the work.
- Materials :
Mixed fabric of cotton 50% and spandex 50% was used for the fluid and wavering effect after cutting edges.
